Session General Purpose Session 01

A good, general purpose session that works on a mix of skills & gives plenty of game time
Drills in this session:
3 Person Drill by Brummie
10 mins
A simple drill that gets people taking on a straight up mark and provides lots of repetitions in a short period of time
A handler, A, starts with the disc, marked by C. Another offensive player, B, starts 3-8m downfield of A.
Being able to throw into space for a receiver to run onto is critical for many drills in ultimate; this is the most simple drill to get started
A handler, A, starts with the disc and is stood at the front of a stack. A cutter, B, stands 2-10m away, in a stack parallel to the sideline.
5 Pull by Brummie
20 mins
A themed game that provides lots of chances to practice receiving the pull.
Play with the following rules:
- Each team only gets one chance to score; if both teams turnover then the point ends without either team scoring
- One team plays defence for 5 consecutive pulls, regardless of which team scores the point, or if neither team scores
The following rules are optional:
- Have your defensive team pull to your offensive line every time you play, rather than worrying about giving everyone an equal number of chances
- Increase the pressure on your offensive line by letting each points scored by the D line be worth 2pts (or 3pts, 4pts, 5pts etc)
- Feel free to change the number of pulls according to the time available
This is ideal for practicing throwing continuation after breaking the mark
A handler, A, starts with the disc on the sideline, marked by D1. A cutter, B, starts 5-15m downfield and 5-10m infield from B.
Game to 5 by Brummie
30 mins
Game time!
Play a game; you can split into small groups (4-on-4, 5-on-5, etc) if you have a lot of players, or prefer increased pitch time over playing on a full field
