3-person Sideline Escape by Dave Trovell

6+

Being trapped on the sideline can be daunting for intermediate players. This 3-person play makes it easier for the thrower by giving more options; and helps turn a sideline trap into an attacking position.

Setup

A begins with the disc near the sideline. D1 puts on a line-trap force.
B sets up perpendicular to the sideline facing A, marked by D2.
C is the front of a vertical stack, or a isolation in the centre of the field.

Rotation

A>D1>B>D2>C>D3

  • Set up

Step 02

  • Movement: B and C each have parallel ‘train-tracks’ in which to cut. When B cuts upline, C cuts to the dump/swing, when B cuts back to the dump/swing, C cuts upline. The movement is initiated by B. C needs to respond.

Step 03

  • Cutting:
  • If B or C catch the disc upline, they immediately swing it to centerfield as the other one cuts up-field Break Under to Away

Step 04

  • If B or C catch the disc perpendicular to A, they immediately throw to centerfield as C/B cuts in-field Open to Break Wrinkle

Tips

Dave Trovell

Dave Trovell says:

Make sure you cut all the way to the sideline and back; any half-cuts are easy to cover and mess-up the timing of your partner.

This really works well near the endzone when C cuts for a swing and then goes down the line – but watch out for a poach from B.
