Give and Go: Sealing the lane in a give and go by Brummie

Sealing the lane is a method of legally taking a field position which prevents your defender from being able to make a play on the following pass; it is a proactive way of generating sufficient separation for a safer pass to be made

This is a variant of the give and go; imagine a line between where the marker is and where the disc might go next. By getting in front of the marker, a thrower can proactively block a defender from being able to intercept the return pass.
Sealing the lane
After throwing open side – Fig. 1 – the handler not only has the advantage of being able to win the open side footrace, but they are also able to block their defensive player from re-establishing correct positioning. By immediately stepping upfield, A establishes a legal position which can prevent D1 from establishing their preferred position as seen in Fig 2.

By sealing the space off with their body, A can open up a free lane for B to throw a lead pass – Fig. 3 – setting up power position without risk.
