Picking up players – Body positioning by Annie Glasspool

Learn not only how to effectively pick up new offensive threats, but maintain your body position to stop them getting the disc
Setup:
D1 begins in a 5m box of cones.
Player X holds the disc at one corner cone, player Y stands an the adjacent cone.
Remaining players (cutters A, B, C …) form stacks on two corner cones opposite players X and Y.
Rotation:
A>B>C>D1>X>Y

Encourage players to adopt a sideways stance, so they can keep track of both the cutters and the disc. Players who habbitually facemark should use this as an opportunity to try something new.
Running the drill several times, means players can try different body positions that allow them to be aware of the disc and the cutters. In a final run through, allow a player to act as the sideline, and shout "swing" when the disc moves, emphasising how much easier awareness is with verbal help.
