There are many misconceptions about cutting laterally, including that it is "bad"... nothing could be further from the truth. Lateral cuts provide aggressive handler resets while setting up great options for continuation, and should be part of every team's offensive strategy.

Throwing to lateral cuts is slightly different than throwing to cuts that are aimed towards the thrower. Some ‘experienced’ players will blame the angle of lateral cuts for the resulting turnovers, but actually many turnovers that result from throwing to lateral cuts are as a result of the thrower failing to alter their throw accordingly.
