Clam is a method used to “wrap” the stack, with players working in pairs to “sandwich” cutters, each taking responsibility for denying cuts to their side of the field using the same principle as . Often, clams are used only to deny initial plays, and thereafter the defensive unit will revert to person-to-person defence. See for more information.
