One way that offences might take on a zone is by simply using open side throws, trying to bypass the zone entirely.

How do we prevent this from happening? The alley player in the cup will usually be blocking throws from going directly downfield when the cup is set. When the disc is swinging, the open side wing is often the only player able to threaten the open side.
